I Independence is a goal for students because it builds self-esteem and self-confidence. Second graders accomplish many things on their own and I encourage exploration in all areas of the classroom. Please work on the following skills at home with your child: tying shoes (students should wear shoes they can manage on their own.) and backpack organization (students will organize their own items for taking home)
J Journal writing is a great addition to Writer's workshop. One way we accomplish this is through free writing in JOURNALS. Encourage your child to write at home for a variety or purposes.
